PYC GOLF TOURNAMENT – FRIDAY JUNE 8th
By · CommentsJoin us this year for the 5th Annual “Fore the Love of Children” Golf Tournament!
This year, the tournament will be held at the beautiful River Wilderness Golf & Country Club in Parrish, followed by dinner in the club house.
Remember that we host this event not only for the great time that we enjoy year after year, but also to support our youth athletic programs. We are adding new and exciting programs – to include golf! – and we can’t do it (and keep it affordable for our families) without your help.
Please considering becoming a sponsor, or just joining us to golf. It’s a great deal at only $75 per golfer at a beautiful, private course – including dinner and prizes!
Any contribution (even if you will not be joining us to golf) is most welcome, and will help us serve Palmetto’s Youth!
Look at our new van!
Please join us in thanking the Selby Foundation for their continued grant support of the Palmetto Youth Center!
Although the van is still waiting to get “wrapped” with our name, it’s made our transportation more comfortable for our youth, and more reliable! We couldn’t have done it without the help from the Selby Foundation! They also funded necessary repairs to our roof. This type of grant funding is so important – - – help with these “big ticket items” lets us continue charging affordable fees to our local families while expanding our programs and offering even more to our children!
Visit The Selby Foundation on Facebook and tell them how much we appreciate them!

TENNIS AT THE PYC
By · CommentsThe Panda Foundation has come to town! Children from 6 – 10 years old can learn the life-long skill of tennis – as well as take advantage of mentoring, nutritional and fitness education, and all kinds of fun! Panda’s partnership with Manatee Memorial Hospital will teach our youth great preventative health skills! And, it’s all at no cost to participating children!
Call 722-0783 for more information!
You may recall that the Palmetto Youth Center entered into a new partnership with Florida Studio Theatre in Sarasota, with a commitment to bring the cultural arts to PYC Youth. In November, nearly a dozen children were able to visit Florida Studio Theatre. After a tour of the facilities (including dressing rooms and backstage), we saw an excellent presentation of “Jack and the Enchanted Beanstalk”. Then, we were treated to a cookie and ice cream social with the actors and producers of the play.
Then, on February 25th, PYC kids took a dance lesson (and, learned a short routine that they PERFORMED for FST directors), and had lunch in the Goldstein Cabaret Theatre while participating in a Kids Comedy Club – an interactive comedy show for kids of all ages. It was a great day!
We expect to get a few scholarships to summer camps and classes, so let PYC staff if your children are interested in arts, music, and acting – Don’t miss out on this valuable opportunity!

TROJAN’S DANCE TEAMS FINISH 3RD IN REGION!
By · Comments
The Palmetto Youth Center ’s Trojans Jr Peewee and Midget Dance Team each placed 3rd in the Regional Championships in Orlando on Thanksgiving Weekend. Late in October, these two teams were the first place winners at the 2011 Best of the Bay “Cheer Jam” at the Manatee Civic Center, so advanced to Regionals. They gave excellent performances and had a great season, making all of us at the PYC and throughout Manatee County proud.
A special thanks to the dance teams, their families, the coaches, and all of our friends and families who attended practices, games, and competitions, as well as those who contributed to the fundraisers to ensure we would be able to participate.
Take a few seconds to congratulate our Dance Teams! GO TROJANS!
